What
is Hatha Yoga?
One
of the leading scholars on the Yogic Tradition, George Feuerstein,
believes that Hatha Yoga developed around the tenth century, C.E.,
stemming out of Tantra in India. Tantric philosophy holds that all
living things in nature are connected and incorporate the “divine”.
The Hindu tradition links the creation of Hatha Yoga with the teachers
Gorgaksha Natha and Matsyendra Natha, in Bengal, India.
The literal translation of the Sanskrit root, “ha” means
sun and “tha” means moon. “Yoga” means “yoke”
or union”. Based on the Tantric model, the central energetic
channel in the human body “sushumna” is entwined by the
“ida” or lunar channel and the “pingala” or
solar channel. Hatha Yoga focuses on the practice of “bringing
into union or harmony” these energetic channels. The practice
incorporates techniques using the body, breath and mind that rejuvenate
and strengthen all bodily systems: endocrine, nervous, muscular, skeletal,
immune, and circulatory systems while cultivating concentration, self-awareness,
and a profound sense of inner peace. In Hatha Yoga the body is understood
as a doorway through which we access our deepest potentials for well-being.

Yin Yoga & Meditation
Come experience this powerful class offered as a way to bring a peaceful close to your workweek. This experience is a perfect chance to quiet down, de-compress, let go, and heal. Your class begins with simple long-held asana (yoga postures, each asana is held three to ten minutes) for deep relaxation and eradication of stress and toxins accumulated in our muscles, ligaments, bones, and internal organs. After opening and quieting down our body, we begin our seated meditation to access our mind. Saiko will guide you through the entire class, and you will learn several kinds of meditation techniques. After each class, you will walk out of the door with a pair of brand new lungs, a new specious body, and a total new mentality, which is amazingly light, content and full.
